If CO2 could not move through cell membrane it would lead to disasterous results results in animal and plant cells.

1; Plant cell would not be able to absorb CO2, there would be no photosynthesis no food no plant and consequently no animals.

2;CO2 is produced in cell as a result of cellular respiration ,its accumulation would lead to increase in carbonic acid and decrease in pH called acidosis which effects cell metabolism badly.
