Sodas are carbonated water. This means that carbon dioxide, CO2, has been dissolved
in the water. Solubility of a gas in water is increased by pressure and by lowering
temperature.
So if a can of soda is warmed up, CO2 will come out from solution increasing the container's pressure. If heated enough it could burst, or if someone opens it, it would
be messy.
