Lysosomes contain digestive enzymes. The cell would not be able to function properly without the lysosome and its digestive enzymes. Proteins that were no longer needed would not be able to be degraded, vacuoles would not be able to release material into the cell, neutrophil in mammals would not be able to digest engulfed bacteria. The cell would most likely die from the lost functionality of the lysosome.
