Registration was due to the need to ration supplies. Once registered, a person was issued with a Ration Book, allowing them to get a rationed amount of basic foodstuffs.
every person living at home ie wasn't a soldier etc (as far as i know) had a ration book. children under 5, pregnant women and nursing mothers had green books, children between 5-16 had a blue book and everyone elses was buff coloured
ration was there because during world war two there wasnt enough supplies to go around so they shared. they gave everyone a fair amount so that they wouldn't run out. you would get very little but it was to last you a week.people had a ration book and ration coupons. every time they went out to collect there supplies they would take out there ration coupons and they would be stamped to show you had collected your supplies from the shop and that you don't keep coming back for more.hope that helps i am just learing about rationing so i will hopefully be able to give out more information by the way im only eleven and im answering stuff like this. anyway i really do hope that helps you on rationing. =)more answers soon...
The war ration stamps are very common and the demand for them in the collector's circle is not very high. A complete book might get $10, partial books and single stamps are not going to be anywhere near as valuable. The sentimental value is of more worth, as it reminds people of the struggles and their contribution to the war effort.

Ration books is a plural noun. The singular is ration book.
the shopkeepers in world war 2 had to stamp the ration books to make sure that the person collecting the rations could not collect more.
To use a ration book, you typically present it at designated stores or distribution centers in exchange for a predetermined amount of essential goods like food, fuel, or clothing. Each item has an allocated amount in the ration book, and once these have been redeemed, you may need to wait until the next allocation period.
Ration books were introduced during World War II, in 1942, as a means to allocate scarce resources like food and supplies fairly among the population, ensuring everyone had access to necessities during the war.
German bombed ships that delivered the food so a ration book helped people to buy food.
