Hard to imagine. There were so many factors leading to the enlightenment - the spread of printing widening knowledge and providing translations of bibles and rapid spread of polemics. The rise of personal interpretation of scripture. The political fracturing of local princes wanting to get out from under the Holy Roman Emperor. The corruption of the Papacy leading to discontent in the church. The rise of cities with their own govenrnance and the first real strength of a middle class. The flood of knowledge that came through Islamic Spain, and the wide disturbances caused by the invasion of eastern Europe by the Islamic Turks. The discovery of America and the opportunities and losses caused by the inflationary waves of treasure. The invention of the scientific method and its increasing use to develop chemistry, physics, astronomy and medicine.
So, how do you answer a question like that? Which set of things do you propose to subtract in order to prevent the enlightenment from happening? Your choices of what to subtract will give you some answer. But subtracting just one thing probably won't work, the changes would just have come a little later.
the church age would have not started. the enlightenment was a period of time in which churches became popular because people began having spiritual revelations on a massive scale. the church age is the time period from the enlightenment to the present in which the churches that appeared as a result thrive. if not for the enlightenment the presence of these churches would have been fewer and less people would know about some of the popular religions of today. with the development of technology as it is today the enlightenment would have simply happened at a later time.
If there were no Genghis Khan, the Eurasian continent would not have been unified and knowledge would not have been shared between the East and the West. Then Renaissance, Enlightenment and Industrial Revolution would not have taken place and there would be no modernity and globalisation today.
Another event would have happened. There was a little over a year difference between Concord and the Declaration of Independence.
they would be taken to a dungeon and beheaded or tortured
Possibly, although, without the Enlightenment it would not have resulted in the secular rule of Law, nor necessarily been established upon the fundamental rights of man.
Yes, because it was taken at the time it happened.
the world would be a better place
Well, the Turks would be very different at all. And the Muslims would never had wars, so actually Theo didn't need saladin and the trade was very bad.
to a place where people would come to bid them
Mining, fishing, and cropping, among a few others, were main activities. These would have taken place in these colonies.

The original date set for D Day was June 5, 1944. If that had happened many of the troops in small landing craft would have been swamped and the beaches would have been too storm-swept to land on.
