You need to look at things like the ignition switch, ignition and fuel relays, things that if worn or malfunctioning would interrupt the current to either circuit. I am leaning toward the ignition switch, after a while they get loose or worn and contact may be lost, but a faulty relay might heat up and switch off. That will give you a starting point and a second place to look. the problem will invariably be electrical though.
Worn brake pads can cause the brake light to blink on the dash in a 1993 GMC Sierra 1500. This can also be caused by a faulty light.

Not enough coolant, water pump and/or thermostat. Add fluid and check to see if there is a leak. If not it's your thermostat.
HEy i have a 1993 GMC sierra and it takes about 5-6 to fill it all the way up I have an 02 GMC Sierra with the 5.3 liter engine, and it takes 6 quarts. Check your vehicle's manual.
