A 1992 Mercedes Benz may stall while braking due to several reasons, including a failing fuel pump or clogged fuel filter, which can disrupt fuel delivery to the engine. Additionally, issues with the ignition system, such as worn spark plugs or a faulty ignition coil, can lead to stalling. Vacuum leaks or problems with the brake booster could also affect engine performance, especially under the load of braking. Finally, an electrical issue, such as a weak battery or alternator problems, could contribute to the stalling during braking.

Try gaping the spark plugs. I had the same issue where it would stall when I was in gear and stopped unless I had my foot on the gas, then gaped the plugs and immediately the problem went away ~ Usually this is caused by a vacuum leak
