make sure you clear all the MIL codes before you do a repair to fix the problem otherwise its just going keep throwing the same code..
It means a cylinder 4 misfire. Check spark plugs, spark plus wires, possibly head gasket.
you either did not gap the plugs to spec or you put this wires on wrong
Fuel injectors or coil
replace spark plugs @wires
this could be caused by a fuel problem, not spark. check to see if your getting spark to the plug. ck to see if the injector is firing, and run a compression test on that cylinder
Last summer, the cylindars started to misfire on my 2002 lancer. Once the spark plugs were changed, I haven't had any more issues.
There are a couple of reasons why a 1999 Ford Contour may misfire. The spark plugs may need changed or the coil pack may be bad.
Old spark plugs can make a car misfire, run rough, and not fire at all.
It sounds like you have a misfire on cylinder #2. My first thought is have the spark plugs been changed at all on your car? If they haven't, then a tune-up is probably a good place to start. If they have been replaced, you need to check to see if they replaced with the FACTORY spark plugs. If you use anything but the EXACT plugs that came out of it, the car will run rough at idle while in drive, and will misfire when put under a load like a hill or when passing. I had this problem except it was cylinder #4, with code P0304. I checked the spark plugs which had been recently replaced by the previous owner and sure enough, they used the same brand as the factory plugs but didn't use the EXACT plugs that came stock. I bought the more expensive factory plugs and the misfire disappeared. I don't know if yours is a 4 cylinder but if it is, it needs to have NGK Iridium plugs in it. They have a very specially designed electrode that is much smaller than most other plugs.
Spark plugs
the transmition ,is probably not adjusted to the spark plugs,or their not the right spark plugs
Spark plugs or Coil pack most likely
