Not on any post 1998 models. Just a filler plug, located behind the front prop-shaft (drive shaft). The dipstick would be located in the same hole, on earlier models.

check the inside of the fan maybe the brushes are shot. i was just out riding this weekend and my fan totally melted inside. i opened it and the brushes were so worn the fell apart and heated up and burnt.
Why does your Briggs and Stratton emit white Smoke and burn oil?
White smoke is eaither a blown head gasket or you have water in the fuel system. This is not to be confused with flooding an engine and seeing white vapor coming out of the exaust in which that would NOT be smoke, it would be gas vapor's. If your burning oil, the smoke will be blue and smells of burnt oil.

Blue smoke? The end result of a tired engine. White smoke? Cracked head or bad head gasket.
