I've never appreciated a USB Broadband Modem. It has always been my belief, my knowledge in fact - knowing the technology involved - that the Modem (actually a Multi Modem/Demod insert) should/could be inside the computer (laptop or PC) encasements; an isolated board inset. The multi-modem is an actuality that is kept away from the consumer market. Can you see yourself walking into Best Buy, and there being but one unit, that is the multi-modem available for sale? It is possible. But better, that the multi-modem be inside the computer. Do away with all the "recycle-stuff-disposal" involving the multitude of modems currently sold. One unit - inside - is all that is needed. That way you would not be paying lease for a $140.00 VoiP/Internet modem for ten years after that modem depreciated to zero dollars value in five years. Comcast, Verizon et al should be reimbursing subscribers million$ for excess beyond depreciation lease fees. Can't get any attorney/lawyers to take that on; they'd lose their free cable services in their offices.
