Acid rain is caused by factories burning sulphur, which produces sulphur dioxide. Cars also burn fuel which contributes to acid rain, so if people walked more and factories reduced or in fact stopped the amount of sulphur they burnt, then we wouldn't have so much acid rain.

Consider 6 billion weekly loads of laundry and all those cooked meals.
