If a lorry (truck) carrying hazardous materials (dangerous goods) had a crash and the materials were on the motorway (expressway, highway), your correct response would be dependant on what the load was, not merely that is was dangerous goods. The very first things to do, however, are common to all crashes - Call for help from first responders, ensure no-one is injured, tend to any injured and get them to safety if a fire or spill endangers them, alert or divert oncoming traffic.
Motorway crashes releasing dangerous goods must be notified to the transportation agency (US DOT in the United States). If any chemical is spilt in quantities above specified amounts, the environmental agency must be informed. Then the necessary clean up services must be engaged. A quarantine or evacuation area might be required.
Safety gloves are provided to all investigators at highway and plane crash scenes by the NTSB. Mainly to provide protection against what could be hazardous materials, but also to preserve the scene from contamination.
