It is R134a. Ford started the conversion in 1994 but not all Fords were using R134a that year. By 1996 all were using it. Look for a sticker on the A/C unit which lists the correct refrigerant. If you have R12 have it converted to R134a.

How do you change coolant on 1997 Achieva?

If you want to simply remove the existing coolant and replace it with new, the procedure is very simple. If the cooling system needs to be flushed, do that first and then follow these steps to change coolant. 1. Uncap the coolant reservoir. Open lower drain plug. It is located on the lower edge of the radiator on the driver's side of the vehicle. Turn the plug several times to open the plug fully. It is made of plastic, so be careful when using any tools to turn it. 2. After the coolant has completely drained, close the drain plug. 3. Pour 50/50 water/coolant mix into the coolant reservoir. It will take a while for the reservoir to empty into the engine cooling system. 4. After adding approximately one gallon, start the engine. This will pull more coolant into the system. 5. Continue adding coolant until the level reaches and remains at the "full" level. 6. Cap the coolant reservoir.

What if you put in orange antifreeze in my 1996 ford tarus?

I would recommend you drain it out, flush the system, and install the correct green coolant that Ford recommends. Using the wrong coolant can damage parts.

Can you mix cheap Coolant with your existing Coolant?

Yes, as long as you are using the correct coolant as recommended by the vehicle manufacture.

When you put water in the radiator and you leave the cap off while the car is running and the water comes back out while the car is running why does that happen?

Simply stated: The coolant system of your car is a pressurized system. When your engine is running it is generating heat causing the coolant to expand. Your radiator cap helps maintain the pressure in your coolant system, without it there the water as it heats will push it's way back out of the system. Even when you have the cap on the pressure will push coolant into the reservoir that is attached to the tube you can find coming out past the cap. When your engine cools the extra coolant is pulled back out of the reservoir into the cooling system. NOTE: You should always use the recommended coolant specified by your car manufacturer, using only water can possibly damage your engine.

What happens to your vehicle when you add the wrong coolant?

The remains of the old coolant can cause the new coolant to fail. Using the wrong type of coolant can also damage the engine.

What does it mean when I am using a lot of antifreeze?

It could be a number of things. If the car is producing a sweet smelling white exhaust smoke then the coolant is entering the combustion chamber and burning. This could be the head gasket, cracked cylinder walls, cracked cylinder head, or a clogged cooling system. If the coolant is dripping from anywhere other than the coolant resevoir overflow, there is a leak from the cooling system. Easiest way to find out is to have the cooling system pressure tested.

Main causes of corrosion in a cooling system?

Neglect! Failure to change the coolant on a regular basis and failure to use Distilled water with the mix. using the wrong type of coolant there are different kinds make sure you get the right one for your engine

Where would you find a coolant leak on back of intake on Chevy 5.3?

Two ways of checking for leaks. One is using a UVdie in the coolant and running the vehicle for awhile then using a UV light with with special glasses to find the leak. Or you can pressurize the system and look for coolant coming out. Check the color of your oil, make sure it isn't looking like Butterscotch pudding. Coolant in the oil. Most likly cause is the intake gasket has took a crap.

What color coolant goes for yaris 07?

It is red. I would not take any chances of using the wrong coolant. Purchase the coolant at your local Toyota dealer and you will be 100% sure you are using the right stuff. You only need to replace the coolant every 3 years.
