John Logie Baird was the first to demonstrate a fully working television system in 1925 and it was the system that the BBC used for its early television broadcasts from their London studio starting in 1929.
He demonstrated a form of 30 line mechanical Television. He utilised a Scanning disk invented by Paul Nipkow in the 1880's . There were serious limitations to the resolution using the mechanical system but it is worth noting that Baird also was the first to demonstrate color television in 1928 and 3D television in 1931. Baird's system was scrapped in 1936 when the BBC introduced a fully electronic high resolution system.
His TV was an evolutionary dead end. TV was similarly developed in many countries such as USA Japan Germany and Russia. There is no one inventor.
John Logie Baird built and demonstrated the world's first working television in 1925. It was shown to the public in a department store in London and by 1929, the BBC had adopted the same system to start the world's first regular television broadcast.
The year1925 may be considered the official date for the year in which John Logie Baird [August 13, 1888-June 14, 1946] invented the television. Baird first demonstrated his invention and its capabilities on March 25, 1925. The debut demonstration was held at Selfridge's Department Store in London, England.
A television has the capability of transmitting live, having images that move, and showing tonal changes in uninterrupted fashion. Generally, the appearance of motion needs images to be scanned in at a rate no slower than 12.5 per second. Baird didn't achieve that rate until year end. So on January 26, 1926 he held another demonstration at his London laboratory. Invitees included a newspaper reporter and members of the Royal Institution.
John Logie Baird first demonstrated his "Televisor" system in 1925 at a department store in London. This was the first public viewing of electronically transmitted images and in fact came a full year before he demonstrated the system to other engineers and scientists for peer review.
It was in January 1929 that the system was broadcast as a public service by the BBC.
Baird actually invented the world's first television in Hastings in the South of England and demonstrated it in London in 1925.
However, Scotland can still be proud of the fact that the television is a Scottish invention. Baird was born and bred in Scotland and remained there into his university years. The first world war cut short his university education and he moved to England a few years later. So, Baird was born a Scot and forever remains a Scot.
John Logie Baird invented the tv in Selfridges in Oxfords Street London.
