1948. The first bottle had only one dove as a stopper, representing peace. The two-dove bottle was designed in 1951. The bottles were manufactured by Marc Lalique, a childhood friend of Robert Ricci, Nina Riccis son and business partner who managed the scent division of the house. L'Air du Temps was Riccis second scent after Coeur Joie (1946) and an enormous success worldwide. It was said for more than four decades to sell a bottle every second.
