Rome has been sacked many times. 387 B.C by the Gauls, A.D. 410 by the Visigoths, A.D. 455 by the Vandals, A.D. 846 by the Arabs, A.D 1084 by the Normans, A.D 1527 by Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor and his troops. I'm sure there are other times i haven't mentioned.

Roman involvement in Judea started in 63 BC, after the Third Mithridatic War. Pompey entered Jerusalem, sacked the temple, and turned Judea into a client state. In 6 AD the whole of Palestine was annexed into the empire and turned into a province of Judea.

The city of Rome was never taken over, neither in an ancient times nor in medieval times. It was sacked five times, but it was never taken over. The expression the fall of Rome refers to the fall of the western part of the Roman Empire under the weight of the Germanic invasions. They took over nearly all of its lands, from Britain to Spain and from Gaul to northern Italy, but they never took the city of Rome
