Probably 1613.
1613
It is likely that Shakespeare returned to Stratford periodically throughout the year, possibly over lent when the playhouses were closed. He bought the second largest house in Stratford and began spending more time there in 1614, when he was fifty.
There are four plays by Shakespeare on stages at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Stratford Ontario in 2011. They are: The Merry Wives of Windsor Richard III Twelfth Night Titus Andronicus
the black death, one thinks...
Shakespeare, Ontario is not known for its stage performance. You would have to go to the adjacent town of Stratford to see a stageplay.
When: April 23, 1616 Where: At home in Stratford-upon-Avon Why: Cause of death is unknown, but there is a not-very-believable story that he contracted a fever after a night of over-drinking with Ben Jonson.
When Shakespeare was alive, he lived his first years in Stratford-Upon-Avon in Warwickshire, England. Before 1592 he moved to London and lived in several rented residences there. In 1614 he bought the second biggest house in Stratford, and the following year he leased a suite of rooms in the old Blackfriars Abby. Today, he lives on in his plays and poems, and in the hearts of actors and English teachers.
We do not know that Shakespeare "almost died" of anything when he was born. We do know that there was a plague epidemic in Stratford that year (from the burial records which listed the cause of death in one case) and a lot of people died from it between July and December, but it did not affect Shakespeare's family. There is no record that Shakespeare or his parents caught the disease, and it seems unlikely.
Nothing terrifically important. In that year a book was published by Francis Meres called Palladis Tamia which listed Shakespeare as one of England's greatest writers. He also bought a new house in Stratford that year, called New Place.
The records of the grammar school in Stratford for the mid-sixteenth century no longer exist, so we cannot even prove that Shakespeare studied there, never mind when he finished. It's an open question.
Stratford Career Institute was established in 1991.
The Royal Shakespeare Company, or RSC, puts on eleven shows a year in Stratford. They often showcase productions on London's West End or in the Broadway district in New York City as well.
