The Government reserved the right to include discrimination because of caste and has provided the power within the Act to include caste as a protected characteristic at some future point. Research has been commissioned in this area and the results are expected towards year end. There is a good chance that the Act will be extended if research reveals a significant problem. By the way, it's just called the Equality Act and not Single Equality Act.
