I do not think Professor Layton is based on any particular year, we have to remember that these games are all a fiction and just try to create an era to set the mood.
The year Professor Layton's Curious Village was released is to my knowledge the 7th of November 2008
Professor Layton and the Spectres Call Is already out in Ireland. It has been out since November 1st of last year.
2011, Autumn
Yes it will be called Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva. It's due in (Japan I think) January 2010(the year we make contact (punned off of the movie)). So far they're making 8 more games The Movie is in Japanese and will be released in Japan on December 19 2009. Little is known about the animation film named Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva produced by Masakazu Kubo. Trailers for the movie have been released and no plans have been announced for an English release. The fourth Professor Layton game will be released the month before the movie on November 29 2009. Professor Layton 4 is the first in a new trilogy prequel set 3 years before Professor Layton and the Curious Village. The number of games that will exist in the Professor Layton series becomes confusing because the different market releases will each have their own title. Professor Layton 2 has been released under 3 different titles. Professor Layton 3 & 4 already have at least 2 titles each. What is more important is that Professor Layton 4 will include a RPG which can be unlocked after completion of the main adventure will an additional 100 hours of Game play.
I've heard that he's 37, but it is unknown what year the games take place.
Have you done the Layton's challenges, there are five houses to get opened with three Riddles in each of them. If you have completed everything then you must await the next game to come out probably later in the year, September or October, Title, Professor Layton, the Unwound Future.
So far, three are released in America, and and a fourth is only in Japanese, but will be released in the US sooner or later this year. Also, a fifth Professor Layton game is being made in Japanese.
They release a game once a year because it is considered the correct amount of time between releases. It is not just the Professor Layton games that does this. Look at the release dates for many other video games with multiple games in a series and you will find the same pattern. Many authors release their books in this yearly formula. You can also find this yearly pattern in Movies like Harry Potter or the Lord of the Rings series. All three of the Lord of the Rings movies were completed before the release of the first movie, yet they waited a year before releasing the second in that series. Just because Professor Layton 5 has already been released in Japan does not mean that they plan to release it in the North American market before the fall of 2012. It only seems to take so long to you because you are waiting for it. This fall Professor Layton 3 will be released and in the fall of 2011 Professor Layton 4 will be released. Off course they will have actual titles and the numbers are only of use because just like Professor Layton 2 the titles will be different for the different areas that they are released into. Even though the UK's Pandora's Box is almost identical to the North American Diabolical Box there are a number of difference between the games. Having the different titles works much better for the cheat sites than when the titles were the same and the games were different as they were in Professor Layton and they Curious Village.

DIFFERENT PERSON: Well i heard that it came out in: JAPAN: December19-January AMERICA/CANADA: September 2010 SINGAPORE: March 2010 AUSTRALIA: March 2011( around the same time as the 3ds come out) Also I would like to say that there will not be 8 more games the will be 2 more games. So there will be 5 games in the series plus at least 2 movies so that should keep you well and truly fully Layton. 1.PROFESSOR LAYTON AND THE CURIOUS VILLAGE 2.PROFESSOR LAYTON AND PANDORA'S BOX 3.PROFESSOR LAYTON AND THE UNWOUND FUTURE 4.PROFESSOR LAYTON AND THE SPECTRE'S FLUTE 5.PROFESSOR LAYTON AND MIRICLE MASK they will be the names of all the games. 4 and 5 will be prequels of curious village. Spectre's flute will be set 3 years before curious village. So that means there will be no Luke in 4 and 5, also Luke moves in the end of 3 so if there were more games Luke would note be in them. Well I hope i answered your question!! DIFFERENT PERSON:this is the truth. The 4th Professor Layton game is set three years before the others and it is about how the professor and Luke meet so Luke will be in the next games.
The first two are in present day, so the years that they came out. The third is based 10 years in the furture (in the majority of the game). the fourth is based 5 years in the past. That's all that's out in England at the moment but the following two games are based just after the fourth.
-Take the two cats to the other side. -Go back, then take two chickens to the other side. -Take the 2 cats back to the starting point. -Take the dog and the remaining chicken to the other side. - Go back for the two cats and take them to the other side.
There are lots of great strategy video games for 10 year olds. One very popular one is Professor Layton and the Curious Village. There are other Professor Layton video games as well. Another neat strategy video game is 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors.
