Dont believe that it was created between 0 years and above. Nobody actually knows when it was created because of all the things that happend on earth. For example if we dont know the exact year that dinousars became on earth we will not know how earth was before or atleast not know the exact year that the event occured.

Indeed, the "year of creation" can only be guessed at or estimated. The Bible provided a way that some calculations may be made to provide some kind of answer. That answer, based on some very literal interpretation, left the year of creation at some 6 to 9 thousand years or so ago. Science has a vastly different view however, and has tools and methodology to provide another "likely period" in which creation occurred. There just isn't any credible scientific evidence to refute the idea that the earth is very, very old. And we're talking about the age of the earth because doesn't that speak to the year of creation?

Note that the earth was once thought to be quite young, and for a long time, too. The Biblical account of things pointed to a year of creation that set its age at a few tens of thousands of years at most. But as thinking people investigated and "read" the geology of the earth, the idea that the planet was much older surfaced. Creation was pushed back. Certainly there was a backlash among those who made a more literal interpretation of the Bible. One of those who objected was the great Lord Kelvin. (He went to Chapel daily to exercise his faith.) But his own mathematics pushed the age of the earth to millions of years. His revisions of his own work did nothing to make the idea of the "old earth" go away.

Using more sophisticated methods of investigation, namely radiometric dating, we have an entirely different picture of the age of the earth. It's really old. And about the only objections to the findings are raised by those who cannot or will not make an attempt to grasp the technical principles of the science that proves it. The idea of the "young earth" is flatly rejected by the American Academy of Science, and also by the vast majority of scientific organizations around the world. It is also rejected by most of the scientists themselves. To say that "a lot" of scientists support the idea of a young earth does nothing to change the fact that these "young earth" investigators represent a very small minority of the number of scientists doing the investigating.

If we asked 10 different scientists when creation was, we'd get 10 different answers. But the answers would all fall within a small "window" that sets creation at around 14.5 to 14.6 billion years ago. A large majority of Christians agree, too. And don't ask this question of followers of other faiths. The vast majority of them would reject the idea of a creation a few thousand years ago, just like most Christians. All things considered, few really subscribe to the idea that creation was only a few thousand or a few tens of thousands of years ago. And because there is so much data supporting the scientifically set age of the earth, accepting the idea of a "young earth" requires a broad suspension of rational thought.

Answer

Much scientific evidence researched in integrity by people who do not believe the Bible happens to put the age of the earth into a time-frame much closer to the estimated age of the earth using the Bible chronologies than to the alleged billions of years of time under the evolutionary paradigm.

Scientists such as Kepler and Newton came up with dates not that far away from Bishop Usher's date of 4004 BC. Even though these men were some of the greatest scientists who ever lived they were centuries before radiological dating, and the theory of evolution. Other great scientists who lived after the advent of Darwinism, also shared their view of a young earth. Scientists today who believe in the 'old earth' also ignore any evidence to the contrary, of which there is a great deal. This would suggest their view is a belief rather than factual, as true science needs to follow where the facts lead. They also tend to steer away from even using the term 'creation' since this clearly implies a creator.

The term 'the year of creation' in any case refers to what is in terms of those who believe in creation as taught in the Bible, what is effectively 'year 1', the year in which it all began as a tri-universe of space, time and matter, as created by almighty God. The year of creation is thus a basis, under this time-frame of reference for calculating other events and placing them within a chronology. As an example, using this dating, the murder of Caesar in the Senate in what we usually refer to as 44 BC would be the year 3960 AM (The abbreviation for 'in the year of the world'). According to the Jewish frame of reference the current year 2008 is the year 5769 (the Jewish chronology is a little different from that of Usher).

There is little indication in scripture as to when the earth was created, but there are clues. As one thousand years in our time is but a day in Gods time, and as God took seven days or seven thousand years in our time to organize the earth. If you add to that the seven thousand years that man has been in existence then the earth has been in existence fourteen thousand years.

Oh I know that you might say well what about this carbon dating which says that the earth has been in existence millions of years, well one thing that you have to remember is that the material which goes up to make the earth has indeed been in existence for much longer than the earth in its present form. You cannot create matter, for it has always been in existence, but the earth has not.

The Earth was created by God in 6 days. On the 7th day, He rested.

Depending whether you prefer Genesis 1 or 2, He created the animals first, or He created Man first.

Or, the world arose out of the waters of chaos. The first thing to arise was a pyramid-shaped mound called Benben.

Or, in the beginning Mbombo was alone. One day, he had a stomach-ache, and vomited up the Sun, Moon, and stars. The heat from the Sun evaporated the waters that covered the Earth, revealing, well, dry land. Then Mbombo vomited up some animals, and some men. Then those animals and men vomited up more animals and men. This is how the Earth became populated, although we no longer vomit up our progeny.

Or, if you find any of those choices, er, unpalatable, the Earth was created from the remnants of an exploded star, whose debris began to coalesce due to gravity into the Sun, the planets, and some left-over odds and ends we call asteroids. Of course, this is a very simplified version of how it happened, but perhaps that's to be preferred.

There are 3 sources of information in the Bible, on the creation of the world: 2 in Genesis and a fragmentary one in Psalms. However, he Psalms version is too fragmentary to provide any real clues about when the people believed the world to have been created.

What the two, quite different, creation accounts in Genesis do have in common is that they do not say that God created the earth itself.

If we took the biblical genealogies absolutely literally, as Archbishop James Ussher did, we could say that the Bible says that God's creation was in October 4004. But, if we read the Bible, that answer must exclude the earth itself.

  • In the first creation account, Genesis 1:1 to 2:4a ( up to first sentence of 2:4), there was a pre-existing watery chaos. The ocean was already present and a wind moved across the surface. The seas rested on the dry land, which appeared on day 3 when God gathered the waters together.
  • In the second creation account, Genesis 2:4b to 2:15, there was pre-existing dry land, but God had yet to make it rain for plants to grow. A spring arose and God took some moist clay and made Adam.

In both creation stories, the basics were already there - the waters, the dry land, the wind and therefore the air. Many experts in Hebrew have carefully examined the texts and confirm that this is what they say. The biblical creations were not ex nihilo.

Detailed explanations of the biblical creation stories can be found in Anchor Bible Series: Genesis (Speiser) and Middle Eastern Mythology (Hooke). For a shorter online explanation, please visit: http://christianity.answers.com/theology/the-story-of-creation

Bishop Ussher (1581-1656) worked laboriously through the biblical chronologies and by matching them to known historical events, decided that creation took place in 4004 BCE.

Now that we know so much more about the real age of the universe, this date for creation is absurd. We know that the universe is approximately 13.7 billion years old, and that the earth itself is approximately 4.5 billion years old. Life on earth began nearly 4 billion years ago.
