"Some Like it Hot" was the debut single from The Power Station album, a self titled album by a band comprised of John & Andy Taylor (on hiatus from Duran Duran) and former Chic band mates Tony Thompson and Bernard Edwards. Palmer was a late addition to the group. John Taylor had asked Palmer to write lyrics for some musical tracks the band had composed (one of them would become "Some Like It Hot"). Impressed, John pushed the band to give Palmer a try out as lead singer. The rest of the band were impressed and Palmer helped co-write most of the songs on their debut album.

"Some Like It Hot" was released in early spring 1985 and hit the Top 20 in the UK and peaked at No. 6 on the US Charts. The album was US million seller, hitting the Top 10 of the US album charts and the Top 40 in the UK.

Palmer left the band shortly before a scheduled summer tour in 1985 to continue working on his upcoming solo album, which would become Riptide, his biggest US success. That album produced the hit singles "Addicted To Love" and "I Didnt't Mean To Turn You On". Andy Taylor, Edwards, and Thompson all made contributions to the Riptide set.

Durng the summer of 1985 another Power Station single "Get It On (Bang A Gong)" was released, hitting the Top 10 in the US.

Palmer adopted "Some Like It Hot" into his solo act live and played routinely in concert until his death. He used to open his shows during his giant 1988 and 1991 tours, and also performed it as part of VH1 television concert special in 1997.

Who is the person that discovered that the singer Robert Palmer had died on September 26 2003?

Mick Carter, Robert Palmer's former manager, was the first person to discover that Robert Palmer had passed away. Although Robert Palmer had terminated Mick Carter prior to his death, they had arranged to meet at the French television studio where Palmer was to make an appearance that morning to complete a personal business matter. Mick Carter arrived at the studio for the meet, however, Robert Palmer did not arrive. Robert Palmer was known to be professional and prompt about his appearances and his non-appearance caused Carter to become concerned. Palmer had been experiencing some health problems prior to his death, suffering from Hypertension and Mitral Valve Prolapse, a congenital heart condition and was taking medication for both conditions. Mick Carter went to the Warwick de berri Hotel, where Robert Palmer was staying after Palmer did not respond to phone calls and had not checked out with the front desk. The manager of the Warwick de berri agreed to a welfare check due to Robert Palmer's health problems and opened the door after announcing himself for several minutes. Mick Carter entered the room and discovered that Robert Palmer had passed away. The Coronor's Offices were then informed and the press was notified of Robert Palmer's death. Robert Palmer was staying alone in Paris, France, at the time of his death. Robert Palmer's close friend, Jack Bruce, was also staying at the Warwick de berri Hotel at the same time that Palmer was there, and the two had taken the opportunity to spend time with one another while there. Jack Bruce was the last person to dine with Robert Palmer prior to his death on the 26th of September, 2003. Bruce was attending a social engagement at the time of Robert Palmer's death.

Is it true that Robert Palmer the singers first wifes name was Shelly and why did his manager report that he was only married once?

Robert Palmer's first wife's name was Shelly Putnam, and they were married in 1972. Together, they had three children. They were divorced in 1978. Robert Palmer remarried in 1979. Robert Palmer's manager, Mick Carter, did announce that Robert Palmer was only married once because he simply did not have enough factual information about his client to make accurate reports after his clients death. Everyone who knew Palmer did wonder how one wife and three children could be eliminated, but Carter succeeded in doing so. Ergo, due to his lack of reasonable information, he reported that Palmer was only married once, and had only two children. One of the problems in his poor reporting was that he was culling information from a woman who did not know the facts herself, and in some cases was hoping to revise history regarding Robert Palmer. It worked, and Carter reported information as she fed it to him, resulting in numerous errors of fact. Carter also reported that Robert Palmer and Susan Palmer divorced in 1993, when in fact they divorced in 1999, successfully cutting six years off the longivity of their marriage. Carter's poor performance regarding the Robert Palmer situation earned him a professional black eye, partially resulting in the closing of his management agency in 2004.

Did Mary Ambrose co-write love takes time on Robert Palmers Honey as she had said I thought he wrote it with Sharon O'neill who i was a fan of?

No, she did not. According to the liner notes on Honey, "Love Takes Time" was in fact written by Robert Palmer and Sharon O'Neill. According to Mary Ambrose's brother and many other witnesses, Mary Ambrose did not even meet Robert Palmer until late 1995. Honey was released in 1994. Mary Ambrose tried to claim credit for co-writing Aeroplane on Robert Palmer's Don't Explain. That song was written by Robert Palmer alone. Robert Palmer did allow her to do some back up singing on Rhythm and Blues and Drive, but on Rythm and Blues, B.J. Nash had to go over and correct Ambrose's contributions and on Drive Tina Ann Hart had to re-do Ambrose's contributions, also. Palmer did give Ambrose credit in the liner notes for both, though. At any rate, credit should be given where credit is due. Love Takes Time was co-written by Sharon O'Neill, not Mary Ambrose.

Why was an article in the Sunday Mirror about Robert Palmer and Mary Ambrose debunked by the Palmer family and Palmers publicity manager Any details?

The article was publicly debunked because Robert Palmer had never given the interview. The article was pointed out to the Palmer family and to Robert Palmer's publicity agent, Elizabeth Freund, who looked into the matter. Freund kept a log of Robert Palmer's interviews fastidiously, and noticed that no such interview was given by Palmer. The writer of the article was contacted to clarify the situation, and she informed the Palmer family's attorney that she had conducted the interview by telephone, and had provided the exact date and time the alleged telephone interview took place. As it turned out, at the time the interview was allegedly taking place, Robert Palmer was onstage recording his television special "Every Kinda People", and numerous people vouched for his whereabouts at the time. Obviously, Palmer could not have been giving a telephone interview and performing onstage at the same time, therefore the article was publicly debunked. Apparently, the article was pointed out in the first place because Mary Ambrose was not Robert Palmer's girlfriend, that was Geraldine Edwards, as stated publicly by Robert Palmer. Secondly, the article attributed preposterous quotes as being made by Robert Palmer. As Anna Palmer pointed out, the verbiage was not her father's style and it raised a red flag. Later on it was revealed that Mary Ambrose had put a "friend" up to impersonating Palmer for the interview, who was later questioned, as some people close to Robert Palmer suspected this was the case. The man, who's name was Christopher Locke, and was close to Mary Ambrose, admitted to what he had done, and said he had done it as a favor to Mary Ambrose after she had begged him to help her. He said that he regretted his actions, and did not realize that the interview would actually be published. When Ambrose was questioned about her actions, she told Anna Palmer "I know Robert loved me and I wanted the world to know! I had every right to do it!" The article was then officially debunked, but not before numerous people read it.

Why did some articles refer to Mary Ambrose Robert Palmers ex-girlfriend as his girlfriend of twenty years when they dated for three years and broke up in 2003?

The reason for the misreports are simple; Mick Carter, representing himself as Robert Palmer's manager provided this information to the press and they printed it, taking him at his word. Unfortunately, by the time Robert Palmer had died, Mick Carter had been fired. He made a series of dubious reports about his former client, Robert Palmer, after his death, in a forty-eight hour time period proceeding Robert Palmer's death. When the facts were brought to bear i.e. that Mick Carter had been fired prior to Robert Palmer's death, he was legally stopped from making any further announcements about Robert Palmer. But in that forty-eight hour time period issuing a series of false reports regarding Robert Palmer, he had done a lot of damage. These are the correct facts about Mary Ambrose vis-a-vis her relationship with Robert Palmer. Mary Ambrose dated Robert Palmer from mid-2000 to early 2003. She had met him socially in 1995 in Coronado, California, but the two did not date until mid-2000, when Robert Palmer hired Ambrose as his live-in Estate Manager and Personal Assistant. Prior to that he had been married to his second wife, Susan Eileen Thatcher until 1999. The relationship between Robert Palmer and Mary Ambrose was not monagamous, and Robert Palmer ended his personal relationship with her in early 2003. The entire time that Robert Palmer was dating Mary Ambrose he was also involved with Geraldine Edwards, who he represented as his girlfriend. By early 2003, Robert Palmer and Geraldine Edwards had become engaged and were looking for a home together in the Los Angeles area. In Robert Palmer's last Access Hollywood interview prior to his death, he announced Geraldine Edwards name as that of his girlfriend he had recently become engaged to. The motivation for Mick Carter deliberatly misreporting Mary Ambrose's name as Robert Palmer's girlfriend was also simple. He was close friends with her, the two having a son together in 2001, and more importantly, Mick Carter was told by Mary Ambrose that she was going to be the sole inheritor of the Estate of Robert Palmer which was valued at $54 million dollars. One can surmise that Mick Carter saw money in his future coming from the Estate. He was willing to report any information that Mary Ambrose provided him with to the press. In addition to that, Mick Carter disliked Geraldine Edwards, Robert Palmer's fiancee, intently. She was partly responsible for Robert Palmer auditing his accounts which led directly to the firing of Carter. Later, the entire house of cards fell apart when friends and family members of Robert Palmer's came forward to report the situation in a public way. Mary Ambrose's family was instrumental in correcting the record, their actions were honorable. They were the first to point out that Mary Catherine Ambrose was only twenty-six years old at the time of Robert Palmer's death, and that for some strange reason she tried to start representing her name as Mary Frances Ambrose. They made perfectecly clear what Mary Ambrose's name was and how old she was, which was that her name was Mary Catherine Ambrose, not Mary Frances, and that she was born in June of 1977, making her twenty-six years old at the time of Robert Palmer's death. Her brother Michael Ambrose Jr, made a funny statement to the press, saying "I know my sister was not dating Robert Palmer when she was six years old." The incorrect information provided by some articles can be laid at the door of Mick Carter exclusively, when he chose to misreport the facts to suit himself and Mary Ambrose.

What was the year that Mary Ambrose tried to sell a story to The Enquirer and The Globe and other papers about an illusory marriage to Robert Palmer?

According to Charlotte Goode's twitter, who was an old friend of Robert Palmer's, and two other sites, Portal 1 and Blogscandal, Mary Ambrose tried to sell the story of the illusory marriage to the tabloids in early 2010. She was asking for $75,000.00 for the exclusive. Nobody bought it, and she got no takers. By then, Mary Ambrose had received all the hand-outs from her friends that she was going to get, and was looking for a way to make some substantial money. Ambrose alleged that she and Robert Palmer had been married in secret in 1996 in the country of Turkey. Robert Palmer was married to Susan Palmer in 1996 and her story got nowhere. In addition to the far-fetched aspects of Mary Ambrose's story, the late Robert Palmer would have had no reason to get married secretly. Had that truly been the case, Mary Ambrose would have grandly made that announcement upon Palmer's death. The rumor was completely quashed when research was done on the matter, revealing no documentation of a third marriage of Robert Palmer, period. The Palmer family also weighed in negating the rumor. Sadly, Mary Ambrose was served with a second Cease and Desist letter legally advising her to refrain from her activities. She complied with the order. She received her first Cease and Desist Letter shortly after Palmer's death, prohibiting her from giving interviews announcing herself as Robert Palmer's girlfriend. I guess in some cases, people never learn.

When did the late Robert Palmer become a citizen of Switzerland?

Robert Palmer became a naturalized citizen of Switzerland in 1993, the same year he bought his home in Lugano, Switzerland. Prior to that Robert Palmer was a British citizen residing the majority of the year in Switzerland on a green card. It took longer than he expected to become a naturalized Swiss citizen, and when this did finally occur, he was officially a dual citizen of both Switzerland and Great Britian. Palmer initially started spending large amounts of time in Switzerland in 1986 and determined at that time that it was his desire to become a naturalized Swiss citizen. In some interviews Robert Palmer identified himself as living in Switzerland prior to becoming a citizen, as that was where he and his family spent the majority of their time.

Is it true that Mary Ambrose co-wrote Aeroplane with Robert Palmer for his Don't Explain Album?

No. According to the liner notes on 1991's Don't Explain, Robert Palmer is given sole credit for writing the song. For reasons that no one can explain, Mary Ambrose told some people, including writers, that she had co-written the song with Palmer, per her brother Michael. The information was then included in discography listings in good faith. Also, Aeroplane was written in 1991 and Mary Ambrose did not make the acquaintance of Robert Palmer until late 1995.

Was Jack Bruce spending time in Paris France with the late Robert Palmer at the time of Robert Palmers death?

That is correct. Robert Palmer and Jack Bruce were staying in adjoining suites at the Warwick de berri Hotel in Paris, France at the time of Robert Palmer's death. The two wanted to spend time together as Jack Bruce had undergone a successful liver transplant operation in July of 2003, but was still recuperating from the major surgery. He was ordered by his doctor to take time off, and thought it would be a great opportunity to spend some time with his good friend since 1969, Robert Palmer. Palmer himself was taking a breather from promoting 2003's "Drive." Jack Bruce was the last person that Robert Palmer dined with at the Warwick de Berri, or, as they jokingly referred to it, as "the Georges" as the hotel was located on Georges IV Ave. in Paris and on one occasion they had forgotten the name of the hotel while partying. Jack then said "You know, were staying at the Georges!" They never forgot that. Robert Palmer was also suffering from Hypertension at the time and felt that he needed a rest. The time was optimum for them to spend time together. Mick Carter discovered that Robert Palmer had died when he went to his suite after Palmer had not appeared for a scheduled interview on the morning of September 26, 2003 and contacted the proper authorities. Jack Bruce was attending a social engagement at the time and was informed of the situation when he returned to his suite.
