Robert Palmer became a naturalized citizen of Switzerland in 1993, the same year he bought his home in Lugano, Switzerland. Prior to that Robert Palmer was a British citizen residing the majority of the year in Switzerland on a green card. It took longer than he expected to become a naturalized Swiss citizen, and when this did finally occur, he was officially a dual citizen of both Switzerland and Great Britian. Palmer initially started spending large amounts of time in Switzerland in 1986 and determined at that time that it was his desire to become a naturalized Swiss citizen. In some interviews Robert Palmer identified himself as living in Switzerland prior to becoming a citizen, as that was where he and his family spent the majority of their time.

Does Mary Ambrose who dated Robert Palmer receive child support from Mick Carter Palmers former manager for their son born in 2001?

The answer is yes, although the amount she inherited was negligible. Out of the $54 Million Estate, she was only awarded a total of $16,000.00. Interviews were given by Ambrose in 2004 stating that the disbursement of the Will was being "held up" because Switzerland did not recognize "Common Law Wives" and that Robert Palmer had written the Will in her favour. That was not correct. Ambrose was not Robert Palmer's common law wife to start with, and the Will was ajudicated in Paris, France, not Switzerland. As it turned out, Robert Palmer had written his Last Will and Testament to favour his children and to benefit UNICEF. Mary Ambrose did sue the Estate of Robert Palmer in 2004, but her matter was dismissed by the Paris, France Court. She Appealed the Court's decision, but her Appeal was dismissed in 2004.

Was Robert Palmer still dating Robert Palmer at the time of his death and was she still working for him?

No, she was not. Robert Palmer broke ties with Mary Ambrose in February of 2003 as he and his girlfriend, Geraldine Edwards, were planning on moving to Los Angeles with one another. Palmer also told her at that time to seek other employment as her being on site did make him uncomfortable and made his relationship with Geraldine Edwards awkward. Mary Ambrose became hysterical and refused to leave Palmer's home. He was firm with her and made it perfectly clear that as far as he was concerned she was no longer in his life. He did allow her to stay at his homes and continued to allow her to work as his Estate Manager until she could find other employment as she did have two children belonging to friends of his. He wanted to be sure that they had a safe place to stay. In April it was brought to Robert Palmer's attention by his accountant that there were inequities in his household accounts fund. It was discovered that Ambrose was transferring money from the household accounts fund to her personal accounts, $65,000.00 to be exact. It was also discovered that she was using credit cards intended for household estate matters to purchase herself over $10,000.00 worth of clothing and jewelry as well as treating her friends to expensive lunches. At that time Robert Palmer told Mary Ambrose that she would have to leave his home rather than continue to house her under the circumstances. He promised her that he would not press criminal charges only to avoid scandal, which he did not need. She once again refused to leave his home until he was willing to make a settlement on her. She cited her personal relationship with him and some of his better known friends and agreed not to give interviews in exchange for a financial settlement. Palmer defininitely did not want her giving interviews about himself or any of his friends so he agreed. A settlement was hammered out on September 25, 2003 agreeing to award Ambrose $100,000.00 in exchange for her silence about Palmer and his friends for life. In other words, it was a permanent gag order. Unfortunately for Mary Ambrose the Settlement Agreement had not been drawn up or signed yet and she never received the money as the matter had not become officially legal at the time that Robert Palmer had died. In order for it to have been so, it would have had to have been signed by both parties and filed with the court.

Who is the person that discovered that the singer Robert Palmer had died on September 26 2003?

Mick Carter, Robert Palmer's former manager, was the first person to discover that Robert Palmer had passed away. Although Robert Palmer had terminated Mick Carter prior to his death, they had arranged to meet at the French television studio where Palmer was to make an appearance that morning to complete a personal business matter. Mick Carter arrived at the studio for the meet, however, Robert Palmer did not arrive. Robert Palmer was known to be professional and prompt about his appearances and his non-appearance caused Carter to become concerned. Palmer had been experiencing some health problems prior to his death, suffering from Hypertension and Mitral Valve Prolapse, a congenital heart condition and was taking medication for both conditions. Mick Carter went to the Warwick de berri Hotel, where Robert Palmer was staying after Palmer did not respond to phone calls and had not checked out with the front desk. The manager of the Warwick de berri agreed to a welfare check due to Robert Palmer's health problems and opened the door after announcing himself for several minutes. Mick Carter entered the room and discovered that Robert Palmer had passed away. The Coronor's Offices were then informed and the press was notified of Robert Palmer's death. Robert Palmer was staying alone in Paris, France, at the time of his death. Robert Palmer's close friend, Jack Bruce, was also staying at the Warwick de berri Hotel at the same time that Palmer was there, and the two had taken the opportunity to spend time with one another while there. Jack Bruce was the last person to dine with Robert Palmer prior to his death on the 26th of September, 2003. Bruce was attending a social engagement at the time of Robert Palmer's death.

I am an American citizen. My family came to the United States from Switzerland in the 1800's.Since both sides of my ancestors are from Switzerland can I become a Swiss citizen andhavedualcitizenship?

I am a Swiss citizen. I am not 100% sure if this is right but I think this wont be possible since you or your family havent lived here in over a century. It is very hard to get a Swiss citizenship anyways. It would probably be best if you consulted the Swiss embassy in the U.S.

Why did some articles refer to Mary Ambrose Robert Palmers ex-girlfriend as his girlfriend of twenty years when they dated for three years and broke up in 2003?

The reason for the misreports are simple; Mick Carter, representing himself as Robert Palmer's manager provided this information to the press and they printed it, taking him at his word. Unfortunately, by the time Robert Palmer had died, Mick Carter had been fired. He made a series of dubious reports about his former client, Robert Palmer, after his death, in a forty-eight hour time period proceeding Robert Palmer's death. When the facts were brought to bear i.e. that Mick Carter had been fired prior to Robert Palmer's death, he was legally stopped from making any further announcements about Robert Palmer. But in that forty-eight hour time period issuing a series of false reports regarding Robert Palmer, he had done a lot of damage. These are the correct facts about Mary Ambrose vis-a-vis her relationship with Robert Palmer. Mary Ambrose dated Robert Palmer from mid-2000 to early 2003. She had met him socially in 1995 in Coronado, California, but the two did not date until mid-2000, when Robert Palmer hired Ambrose as his live-in Estate Manager and Personal Assistant. Prior to that he had been married to his second wife, Susan Eileen Thatcher until 1999. The relationship between Robert Palmer and Mary Ambrose was not monagamous, and Robert Palmer ended his personal relationship with her in early 2003. The entire time that Robert Palmer was dating Mary Ambrose he was also involved with Geraldine Edwards, who he represented as his girlfriend. By early 2003, Robert Palmer and Geraldine Edwards had become engaged and were looking for a home together in the Los Angeles area. In Robert Palmer's last Access Hollywood interview prior to his death, he announced Geraldine Edwards name as that of his girlfriend he had recently become engaged to. The motivation for Mick Carter deliberatly misreporting Mary Ambrose's name as Robert Palmer's girlfriend was also simple. He was close friends with her, the two having a son together in 2001, and more importantly, Mick Carter was told by Mary Ambrose that she was going to be the sole inheritor of the Estate of Robert Palmer which was valued at $54 million dollars. One can surmise that Mick Carter saw money in his future coming from the Estate. He was willing to report any information that Mary Ambrose provided him with to the press. In addition to that, Mick Carter disliked Geraldine Edwards, Robert Palmer's fiancee, intently. She was partly responsible for Robert Palmer auditing his accounts which led directly to the firing of Carter. Later, the entire house of cards fell apart when friends and family members of Robert Palmer's came forward to report the situation in a public way. Mary Ambrose's family was instrumental in correcting the record, their actions were honorable. They were the first to point out that Mary Catherine Ambrose was only twenty-six years old at the time of Robert Palmer's death, and that for some strange reason she tried to start representing her name as Mary Frances Ambrose. They made perfectecly clear what Mary Ambrose's name was and how old she was, which was that her name was Mary Catherine Ambrose, not Mary Frances, and that she was born in June of 1977, making her twenty-six years old at the time of Robert Palmer's death. Her brother Michael Ambrose Jr, made a funny statement to the press, saying "I know my sister was not dating Robert Palmer when she was six years old." The incorrect information provided by some articles can be laid at the door of Mick Carter exclusively, when he chose to misreport the facts to suit himself and Mary Ambrose.
