Can a mossberg model 88 shoot slugs out of a stock barrel?

The mossberg Model 88 maverick can definitely shoot slugs and with fair accuracy too with the un-rifled stock barrel. Try the Winchester Super X 2 1/2 inch 1 oz. But hang on to it or it will hurt you. The recoil is roughly doubled.

What is the difference between Mossberg 500 and Mossberg Maverick?

The Maverick line is a less expensive line of shotguns starting around $180 to $200. The Mossberg 500 starts at around $300. The Mav 88 is a bit less expensive, but it's not from a lack of quality in any way. The Mav 88 is physically and functionally identical to the Mossy 500 except that Mossberg lowers the price by lowering the cost of production. The Mossy 500 has nice wood and a steel forearm action slide tube, the Mav 88 has a one piece synthetic forearm and no slide tube. The Mossy has a top safety machined into the top of the receiver, where the Mav 88 has the safety made as a part of the trigger guard. The Mossy 500 usually comes with sling swivels, the Mav 88 you have to spend the extra $5 and buy your own. Quality-wise, both are functionally identical and all parts except the Mossy 500 forearm wood can be interchanged. All barrels interchange as do all stocks etc. The Mav 88 is a fine weapon in all regards. It won't let you down.

About $200-$275 new depending on how it's set up. Used for around $75-$150. It's almost identical to the Mossberg 500 except for the trigger group/safety. It's a good bang for the buck. Pun intended.

How do you remove the magazine tube from a Mossberg Maverick 88 12 ga shotgun?

Like most other screwed on things on the business end of a firearm the magazine tube on the maverick 88 and or Mossberg 500 as well as probably every other shotgun in the wold, the tube is set with loctite or other thread sealer, which should be easily be burned off by applying a bit of heat, so don't risk destroying your weapon by sticking it in a vise and wrenching it off when you can melt the glue away and simply screw off the magazine tube with some oven mitts on.

What choke tube does Mossberg 12 gauge maverick use?

the 5+1 shot maverick 88 comes standard with a 1/2(half) mod choke which will fire steel, lead, and solids in a non toxic load without known problems, but u should remove and confirm the choke type before shooting any loads other than lead, the 7+1 shot maverick 88 has a cylinder barrel and chokes are not changable, these will accept any load within 3" chamber or less
