" Year of Manufacture for a 4700 Husqvarna Viking Sewing Machine: Their answer: "year of manufacturing is 1990" ...WRONG! I just purchased a Husqvarna Viking 4700 Series, has an inscription stating made in "West Germany"...made in the 1990's? I don't think so!
Sears provides sewing machine repair with their website requiring some basic questions to be answered to understand the problem. They provide service at their service centers as well as in-home repair. Most places that sell sewing machines also do repairs and servicing. See this groups page to get an idea of what they offer. www(dot)janomesewingcentre.com.au/pages.php?pID=5
have old light out of machine but can't get new blub in place
Looking at the instruction book for my Viking sewing machine they are called the "feed teeth".
I don't know all of them but at least Singer, Pfaff and Viking are.
A serger (overlock) sewing machine uses up to four threads and has a special trimming blade. It is designed for one main job: it sews, trims and overcasts the seam at the same time. Its function is specialized, but it can really speed up sewing and gives the finished item a professional look. A serger is a great machine for sewing stretch fabrics. A home sewing machine is designed to do a wider variety of tasks. It will generally have more stitches, plus presser feet and attachments to sew zippers, buttonholes, do machine quilting, etc. There is usually an overlock stitch on a home sewing machine, but you can't sew the seam, overlock and trim all in one pass. Lots of sewers have one (or more!) of each.

Your best bet would be to visit the Husqvarna update site. This update is available to all registered Husqvarna Viking Designer SE owners. You need the Designer SE 3D Embroidery Software CD, (3D Quickfont, 3D Organizer, Computer Connection) which came with your Husqvarna Viking Designer SE installed on a personal computer, running Windows XP. You need to have your Designer SE registered. Your Designer SE must be registered in the VSM Software Product Registration Database in order to udpate your Designer SE. The Designer SE can only be updated via the Smart Update feature of your software. It cannot be registered from the Husqvarna Viking website. For more information, see the link at the left of your screen. ANSWER: I would suggest that you visit the second link listed below for "Designer SE Updates". It is actually very easy to update the SE and you do not have to go through the 4D or 3D software to accomplish this unless you are updating the embroidery software. And, you can register your machine online - just follow the prompts on the registration page. To update the SE just follow the directions for your machine. Or, you can have your dealer show you how so next time you can do it yourself. Sewmetheway!
No. Originally, sewing machines were operated by a hand-wheel on the right of the machine so although the fabric is guided with the left hand, the wheel would have been turned by the dominant hand (in most users).Answer:Yes! it's precisely because the emphasis was placed on the hand crank for the right hander, that produced the ergonomic anomaly with a bias to favour the left hander when conducting all functions that demand dexterity. For right handers, the configuration of the domestic machine has been back-to-front for a 160 years.
Yes. I had a Singer Sewing machine for years and used it to make all sorts of clothes using stretch fabric. I now have a Viking and have no problems with it either. You do need to change to a needle that is specifically made for stretch/knit fabrics. You would need a ball needle so it will go into the fabric easier.
