Taj Mahal
The Vietnam Veterans Memorial is located in Washington, DC. The main part of the memorial, which was completed in 1982, is in Constitution Gardens adjacent to the National Mall, just northeast of the Lincoln Memorial. The monument is maintained by the National Parks Service.
The Crazy Horse Monument was commissioned by Henry Standing Bear who is a Lakota Elder. As of now it has not been completed. When it is completed it will be the largest non-religious monument in the world.

The capstone was laid on the monument on December 6, 1884. The monument was formally dedicated on February 22 (Washington's birthday), 1885. The monument was constructed in two phases with a twenty year gap between them. You can see the dividing line on the monument where one phase ended and the other began. Phase One (1848 to 1858): To the 152-foot (46 m) level, under the direction of Superintendent William Daugherty. Phase Two (1878 to 1888): Work completed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, commanded by Lt. Col. Thomas L. Casey.

There are many building materials that make up the Washington Monument.Structurally it is made of Bluestone Gneiss. The outer facing stones are marble. The commemorative stones include: granite, marble, limestone, sandstone, soapstone, and jade.Due to the 20 year hiatus in construction when the monument was only 150 feet tall, the bottom and top sections are slightly different colors. The builders could not identify the same quarry when they resumed construction.
Its cornerstone was laid on July 4, 1848; the capstone was set on December 6, 1884, and the completed monument was dedicated on February 21, 1885.
