Little is recorded about the year maned wolves were first seen. Nearest i can pin down is approximately 100 years ago. These wolf like animals inhabit the forests of southern Brazil, Uruquay, Paraquay and northern Argentina. They closely resemble a very tall fox and in fact are the tallest 'Canidae' in South America, but are not true wolves, nor are they foxes and are very shy and do not threaten humans.
