1922 until 1953.

In fact, during Vladimir Lenin's disability from 1922 to his death and for awhile after that, Russia, the Soviet Union, was ruled by three men together. They were Joseph Stalin, Grigory Zinoviev and Lev Kamenev until Stalin ousted them from power and had them executed. In about 1929 he had virtually sole power, but did not become the dictator he turned out to be until about 1932 after wiping out all of his opposition. Then he continued on until his death in 1953.
