No it will not. The only transmission that will WORK in the 96 IS A 1996 MODEL. NO other years will interchange.
It will bolt up to the back of the engine, But that's it. The 97 ECM / computer REQUIRES a electronic controlled transmission Witch is the 4L60E / E is for electronic controlled transmission. The only 2 different years of the 4L60E that will work is the 96 and 97 model due to the bell-housing and transmission dust cover and the design of the transmission braces. If the truck don't have the 4L60E trans in it. The engine won't even run RIGHT. The 1989 transmission was not COMPUTER CONTROLLED. WON'T WORK.
NO it will not work. There is ONLY 2 years that will interchange with the 97 year truck. That is a 1997 and 1996 4L60E transmission.
NO it won't fit / BOLT UP. These are the only 2 years that will fit 96 and 97 You MUST put a 4L60E transmission back in it.
That would be the 4L60E transmission and 1996 and 1997 are the ONLY 2 years that will fit that truck.
NO. The only 2 years that WILL bolt right up and work is 1996 and 1997 year transmissions. If the 96 is a 1/2 ton then it MUST have the 4L60E transmission put back in it. If it is a 3/4 ton then it MUST have the 4L80E transmission put back in it.
No. The bellhousing on those two years are different. They will not interchange. but yet they are both a 4L60E transmission. The 96 MUST have a 1996 model 4L60E put back in it.
Yes. Both years used the NV3500 (manual) or 4L60E (auto) for the S10 and 1500, and the NV4500 (manual) and 4L80E (auto) for the 2500 and 3500. Note that trying to swap out a 4L60E for a 4L80E is NOT a simple "plug and play" swap, in case you're getting that idea in your head.
NO. That year truck MUST have the 4L60E transmission put back in it if it is a 1/2 ton. The 3/4 tons MUST Have the 4L80E put in them. The ONLY 2 years that will work in you truck is 96 and 97 transmission.
4L60-E OR 4L-80E DEPENDING ON THE SIZE OF TRUCK 4L60E HAS 16 PAN BOLTS 4L80E HAS 17 PAN BOLTS NEW ANSWER: If it is a 1/2 ton then it MUST have a 1996 or 1997 4L60E put in it. NO OTHER YEARS WILL WORK. If it is a 3/4 ton then it MUST have the 4L80E put in it and NO other years will work.
A 4L60E, the only years that will work are 1993 and 1994.
There's ONLY 2 years that will work and ONLY 1 kind of transmission that will work. A 1996 or 1997 4L60E is what you will need to find.
