I don't really think he's looking for someone to 'make him feel better', especially if they were close.
I imagine he's looking for someone to be there for him, spend time with him and listen to him. He'll come to terms with his aunt's death in his own time, but what he needs now is a good friend, and not some nonexistent perfect combination of magical words to make him happy.

Friends should be left to friends. If her and her aunt are friends, it should not provoke jealosy. When I have to choose between a friend and another friend, you know who I choose? The one who does not make me choose. I would rather have friends that understand that I need a lot of different people in my life.
