Is it a public bus? If so, one will follow suit maximum half an hour later.
If it's the school bus, your friend should try taking the public bus.
If you've got a license and a whip and you're feeling generous, you could give him/ her a ride. Or his / her parents could give him / her a ride.
If your friend has money in the bank, he / she could hop in a cab.
If your friend lives close, walking or biking is always an option.
