size, EX is 1.6 sohc v-tec, HX is a 1.5 sohc (from 92-95) and they are both 1.6l engines from 96-00, the difference being the v-tec (Ex) and v-tec-e (Hx) the Ex builds 127 hp, and gets 28 mpg city and 32 hwy, but with the v-tec-e of the Hx, it gets 31 city and 41 hwy mpg, but only builds 116 hp... the blocks MAY interchange in the 96-00 civics, but will NOT interchange in the 92-95 civics
