What is the difference between a boat and a ship?

A boat is a small wooden vessel. Although it can be made of metal. It unusually hold no more than 5-6 people and is often used for quick transport or for casual fishing out in the ocean. Ships, on the other hand, are massive constructions used for mass transport of people and goods. The Titanic is an example of a ship, while, say, a Canoe is an example of a boat.
