The neutral safety switch could be bad or the ignition switch is bad .
The alternator,or starter might need replacing,or the battery might be dead.
Check the alternator if that don't do it change the battery
It could be battery connection, discharged or faulty battery, faulty alternator or regulator, faulty starter or a loose and corroded connection on the starter.
Had the same problem. Bought a re-conditioned alternator, turned out it was bad. Usually if battery draining, it's alternator or battery or both.
Bad starter.. direct ground..... stero equipment IG: amplifier being improperly wired . and it is possible to have the wrong alternator or a faulty one. Check the alternator. 90% of the time that's it.
Does it have compression at the proper time? Timing chain?
Never disconnect a battery while an engine is running!
Only if something is wrong. Drive it to your local auto parts store and have them check the system. Most do it for free.
Neutral switch Starter solenoid Starter Loose or dirty battery cable
Nothing is wrong. One cable runs from the alternator directly to the ungrounded post of the battery, without any need of going through the key switch. For this wire to become "dead", one of the cables to the battery must be unhooked.
Did you replace the battery? I am trying to determine why you changed out the alternator which charges the battery, and the starter which only starts the car. The 2 are only related through the battery. One system does not rely on the other. As you drive the alternator puts a charge out to recharge and maintain your battery. Your starter only engages when you turn the key to start the car and this draws a lot of voltage from your battery. Try to explain in better detail: Like the car will try to start, it will start but won't keep running or the car won't even turn over, or I am getting a clicking sound. The better you describe the situation the easier it is to get you pointed in the right direction
