There are many different kinds of batteries; some are rechargeable, some are not. Many batteries contain toxic metals (lead, cadmium, and others) so when they are finally thrown away, they should be processed at a toxic waste disposal facility - although of course, they are often just thrown into the regular garbage (since this is easier) and wind up in land-fill sites.

What happens when a speed sensor goes in a cirrus?

When the speed sensor goes out the transmission goes into limp mode and will not allow the car to shift out of first gear. You can purchase a new out-put speed sensor from any dealership for about $17. To replace it you will find it on the driver side of the transmission case it is very simple once you locate it, the old one screws out the new one goes right back in. Don't forget to disconnect the battery before replacing so that the computer will reset itself. If the computer does not reset, remove both battery leads (NOT THE BATTERY TERMINALS and connect them with any object that will conduct electricity, FOR APPROX 10 SECONDS it is what is called A HARD RESET. (AGAIN DO NOT CONNECT THE TERMINALS JUST THE BATTERY LEADS ON THE CAR)

Where is the battery on a 2005 BMW 525i?

The battery is located in the trunk to the right side. There is a large caperted panel that covers access to the brake light assembly, the fuse block, and the battery. you'll need a flat head screw driver to remove the plastic retainer clips. Raise the spare tire cover and hold it up as you pull the carpeted panel away from the body. (takes a little effort) once exposed you'll need a 13mm socket to remove the bracket which goes the length of the battery and a 10mm socket to remove the battery hold down bracket and to loosen the battery terminals.
