Most keys nowadays have a chip insert which without it the car will not start. Evidently you lost or damaged the chip when it got broken. May have to purchase a new key from dealer. Hang on to your wallet. Not cheap. You might check a local locksmith to see if they have a blank key, but I doubt it. josney613@hotmail.com
Have you checked the central locking fuse (should be in the car, not engine bay) that would be linked to the immobilizer but if the car starts while the Central locking doesn't then changing the fuse might solve the problem.
The fuse for the central locking mechanism can be located by looking at the diagram on the inside cover of the fuse box. The fuse box is located in the engine compartment.
There are 4 central locking relays on this car. In one of the engine bay fuse boxes, the one whcih contains the multi fuction module. There are six slots above this, 4 of them contain the central locking relays. Good luck....
Turn on the ignition so that your dashboard lights come on but dont start the engine, press the locking button on the keyfob within 10 secs, locks will engage then release. Done.
I have the same problem but I have a Yaris. Try turning the engine on and off 10 times. That's what ford does.

You have a sensor in the ignition locking system that needs to be replaced. To cheeply get by the problem take out the locking relay.
There is a problem with the Anti-locking brake system. You will need a OBD2 engine scanner to find out what is wrong with it. Have engine scanned. Will need to go into ABS mode with the scanner to get the codes.
