It would hurt a lot and I'm sure he would rather keep his hand because he could still use it a little.
The book didn't mention that possibility. Perhaps some poison or other effect had already gotten to the remainder of his body. Remember we are talking about magic here, so perhaps the usual rules don't apply 100%. But perhaps the author simply didn't think of that possibility.
There is no "name" on the Resurrection Stone. The Deathly Hallows sign is inscribed in the stone. The stone was mounted in the Gaunt family ring before Dumbledore destroyed the Horcrux in it and passed it on to Harry.
No she didnt....Dumbledore tells Harry that he is a Horcrux
From the Gaunt's Horcrux Ring.
The resurrection stone was actually the ring Dumbledore found between the storylines of The Order of the Phoenix and The Half-Blood Prince (The ring that ruined his hand, since it was a horcrux)
He didn't want to kill himself. The cursed ring was one of Voldemort's Horcruxes and one of the Deathly Hallows: The Resurrection Stone, able to recall loved ones from the dead. Dumbledore put it on to see his dead sister, Ariana. The ring was cursed and should have killed him. Snape helped slow the curse down, but could not stop it.Answer: In his enthusiasm of using the Resurrection Stone, he briefly forgot that, being a horcrux, it was likely to be cursed.
When Dumbledore explains that he briefly forgot that the stone, being a horcrux, would most likely be cursed - and put it on. This is explained near the end of book 7.

Marvolo Gaunt's Ring
From the Gaunt's Horcrux Ring.
Marvolo Gaunt did, he hid it inside a ring which Voldemort made into a Horcrux. When Dumbledore destroyed the Horcrux he found the ring and hid it inside the first snitch Harry ever caught. Harry dropped it in the Forbidden Forest and never went back for it.

SpoilersSnape kills Dumbledore with avada kedavra. It is later revealed that this is what Dumbledore wanted as he was already dying after being cursed by a horcrux.
The stone is the Resurrection Stone, one of the three Deathly Hallows (the other two being the Invisibility Cloak and the Elder Wand). It can bring people back from the dead, though not completely; they remain detached because they do not truly belong. It is hidden in the snitch that Dumbledore leaves Harry in his will, though it is in two halves as it used to be a horcrux, but Dumbledore destroyed it.

The resurrection stone was hidden inside Marvolo Gaunt's ring which, without knowing about the stone, Voldemort turned into a Horcrux. Dumbledore put the ring on his finger, desperate to use the stone, and didn't consider that the Horcrux would curse him. Had he not gotten to Severus Snape in time he would have died. Snape managed to trap the curse in his hand but he would only survive another year. This allowed Dumbledore time to make plans for what would happen after his death. He arranged for Severus to kill him and sorted out his will leaving Harry, Ron and Hermione the things they would need to complete their mission. Dumbledore already knew that Harry was a Horcrux and would have to die to defeat Voldemort. So, he hid the ressurection stone inside the first snitch he ever caught and charmed it so that it would open when Harry said he was going to die, allowing him time with his parents, Sirius and (although Dumbledore wouldn't have known) Remus.
