When Dumbledore explains that he briefly forgot that the stone, being a horcrux, would most likely be cursed - and put it on. This is explained near the end of book 7.

Why did Albus Dumbledore want to die?

He didn't want to kill himself. The cursed ring was one of Voldemort's Horcruxes and one of the Deathly Hallows: The Resurrection Stone, able to recall loved ones from the dead. Dumbledore put it on to see his dead sister, Ariana. The ring was cursed and should have killed him. Snape helped slow the curse down, but could not stop it.Answer: In his enthusiasm of using the Resurrection Stone, he briefly forgot that, being a horcrux, it was likely to be cursed.

Was the resurrection stone apart of the ring that Dumbledore wore and was this the Gaunt ring and if so why did he put the stone in the Snitch?

The resurrection stone was hidden inside Marvolo Gaunt's ring which, without knowing about the stone, Voldemort turned into a Horcrux. Dumbledore put the ring on his finger, desperate to use the stone, and didn't consider that the Horcrux would curse him. Had he not gotten to Severus Snape in time he would have died. Snape managed to trap the curse in his hand but he would only survive another year. This allowed Dumbledore time to make plans for what would happen after his death. He arranged for Severus to kill him and sorted out his will leaving Harry, Ron and Hermione the things they would need to complete their mission. Dumbledore already knew that Harry was a Horcrux and would have to die to defeat Voldemort. So, he hid the ressurection stone inside the first snitch he ever caught and charmed it so that it would open when Harry said he was going to die, allowing him time with his parents, Sirius and (although Dumbledore wouldn't have known) Remus.

Was the Resurrection Stone in the snitch?

No, they are very different things. The philosopher's stone belonged to Nicolas Flamel. It could turn any metal into pure gold and produced the elixir of life which made the drinker immortal.A horcrux is an object somebody has chosen to contain a piece of their soul. To do this, a person must commit murder and therefore split their soul.

What is the stone in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and where is it?

The stone is the Resurrection Stone, one of the three Deathly Hallows (the other two being the Invisibility Cloak and the Elder Wand). It can bring people back from the dead, though not completely; they remain detached because they do not truly belong. It is hidden in the snitch that Dumbledore leaves Harry in his will, though it is in two halves as it used to be a horcrux, but Dumbledore destroyed it.
