28 July 1914 - Austria-Hungary declares war on Serbia 6 August 1914 - Austria-Hungary declares war on Russia 23 Maj 1915 - Italy declares war on Austria-Hungary
The Austria-Hungarian Empire was expanding during the early 1900. After the indepedence of Serbia and Bosnia from the Ottoman Empire a few decades nack, Bosnia wanted to join the Austrian Empire. Archduke Franz Ferdinand who was the Crown Prince of the Austrian Empire was sent to the capital of Bosnia, Sarajevo as a state visit. While there he was assassinated by Serbian Nationals who opposed Austrian expansion. As a result of his sons death, Emperor Joseph of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire declared war on Serbia. As a great ally of Russia, Russia declares war im which Russia's ally France declares war. Four days later the German Empire who was a great ally of Austria declared war on Serbia, Russia, and France.

1. 28th June 1914 - Murder of Austria-Hungry archduke Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo by Gavrilo Princip a Serbian Student. 28 July 1914 - unhappy at Serbia's response, Austria-Hungry declares war on Serbia. 29th July 1914 - Due to her Alliance, Russia mobilizes to support Serbia. 1st August 1914 - Due to the Alliances, Germany declares war on Russia. 3rd August 1914 - Germany declares war on France. 4th August 1914 - Germany invaded Belgium using the Schlieffen Plan. Britain declares war on Germany. 5th August 1914 - Austria-Hungry declares war on Russia. By 12th August - France and Britain declare war on Austria-Hungry. (Might as well sum it up into a time line of chaos)
Franz Ferdinand was called the new oppressor of Serbia because he was heir to the throne of Austria-Hungary. Emperor Franz Joseph had promised limited autonomy to Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Congress of Berlin in 1878 but reneged in 1908 and decided to annex them instead. Radicals decided to assassinate the heir to prompt a fight with Austria-Hungary.
