A:In the story of Cain and Abel, they were the sons of Adam and Eve. The four were the only people on earth when Cain murdered Abel. Yet Cain feared other people, "everyone", would seek to kill him.

The best explanation is that myths evolve in such a way that there remains a connection from one story to another, but each as story diverges, it develops its own elements. Once we move on from the story of Adam and Eve, it is no longer relevant that there should be no one else in the world. Cain and Abel moved in a world where there were other people, some of whom Cain feared and some of whom helped him build the city of Enoch (Genesis 4:17).

A:

Most likely members of Abel's clan, or perhaps one of his other brothers or their descendants. Most people assume that because there are no other children of Adam and Eve are mentioned, that there were none, or that because Genesis chapter 4 follows chapter 3, that there was nothing happening in between. Because we are dealing with a story from a very different world than the one we know from our experience, we must pay close attention to the key details that will give us some important clues.

In Genesis 5:3 we find out that Adam was 130 years old when he and Eve had Seth born, who was the first child after that Cain killed Abel as that event was still fresh in Eve's memory (Genesis 4:25), that would indicate that Cain killed Abel around year 129 from creation. In 129 years, this youthful and healthy couple (Adam lived 930 years), living in a world with no television, no fluoridated water, and eating pure, organic, vegan diet would at least have had a 100 children, I can not say exactly how many but it is clear that Cain, Abel and Seth were not the only ones (Genesis 5:4) Besides that Cain and Abel would have been well over a 100 years old at the time, old enough to have lots of children and grand children of their own. So to answer your question - there were lots of people for Cain to be afraid of, as a murderer of the patriarch of a rival tribe.

What was the mark put on Cain by god?

Nobody knows if it was a physical mark or maybe a mental mark? I would think it was a warning that God put in a potential killer's head not to touch Cain.Jewish AnswerThe mark on his forehead was the letter 'vav' which is HaShem's mark. Depending on what is used to make the mark, it's either HaShem's protection or condemnation.Side fact:The Christian "mark of the beast" comes from a misunderstanding of the discussion of HaShem's mark in the Tanach (Jewish Bible). The letter 'vav' has the numerical value of 6 and that's where the Christians created the concept of '666'.

Why does god mark Cain?

God set a mark on Cain because God had mercy on Cain. After pronouncing Cain's punishment, and hearing Cain's reply - "My punishment is more than I can bear.", God put a mark on Cain - Genesis 4.15. And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.

Why did Cain have a mark put on his forehead after he killed Abel?

A:There is a minor fault in the story of Cain, but one that probably went unnoticed when it was being passed on orally, before finally being written down early in the first millennium BCE. Although Adam, Eve and Cain were the only people on earth, and although Cain had no logical reason to believe he would ever meet anyone else in the world, he nevertheless feared that he would be persecuted for what he had done to Abel. God placed a mark on Cain so that anyone finding him would somehow know that he was under God's protection (Genesis 4:15).

How did God protect Cain from his enemies?

Qayin (Cain) did not have enemies at the time. He was worried about being attacked at some time in the future. God gave (literally, "placed") a sign for Cain, the nature of which is not specified. Rashi commentary (Genesis ch.4) says that the sign was a mark on his forehead (in the shape of a letter).

Who are the two people next to Satan in hell?

The scriptures tell us that Cain only is next in leadership with Satan. Cain is also known as Master Mayhem and A Son of Perdition. Cain was the first to murder to get gain and in doing so a mark was placed upon him so that his kinsfolk would not kill him. Cain's advantage over Satan is that he had a body, whereas Satan did not.13 And Cain said unto the LORD, My punishment is greater than I can bear.14 Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, that every one that findeth me shall slay me.15 And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him. Gen. 4The mark placed upon Cain was that of a dark skin, and all dark skinned people may be able to trace their lineage through Cain. This was carried through the lineage of Ham, Noah's son who married a dark skinned woman by the name of Egyptus. Her daughter Egyptus settled in the land Egypt. Please note that the sins of Cain are not answered upon the heads of any of our dark skinned brothers and sisters.Answer:I see nothing in the above answer to prove Cain is the # 2 person in Hell, in fact God put a mark of protection on him so he would not be killed.

Why did God put a mark on Cain's forehead?

To be a sign for later people not to kill him. By the way, "forehead" isn't in the text.
