Then depending on the type of asset your holding it as (for example as a business asset or a personal investment), and what your business may be...it will either be a capital gain...generally taxed at 15% or ordinary income...which gets taxed at your own personal rate (depending on your other income, deductions, etc.). Of course, it would only be on the gain above your investment basis in either case.
