CHECK ALL THE FUSES. IT MAY BE YOUR IGNITION FUSE. I LEARNED THIS THE HARD WAY. MAKE SURE ALL THE FUSES ON THE CAR ARE GOOD. THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS LATER IT ONLY COST ME TWO DOLLARS FOR A FUSE!
my 1998 kia sephia will not crank over
The crank position sensor is mounted on transmission bell housing in the front.
From reading some other posts in another chain , "you push the panel in and remove the clip on the crank..
This could be a number of problems... Fuel pump problem? Carbuerator / fuel injection problem? Timing problem?
Have you replaced the cam and/or crank sensor?
Yes. I had this problem on a 2000 Grand Cherokee. The problem came without any warning that I could notice. I parked it at night and the next morning it would crank and crank but not start. - I would imagine that his problem could happen gradually if the sensor had a broken lead wire or was gradually failing. In my case it was immediate and complete failure.
Your Mercury Cougar might stall in reverse because of a problem with a bad crank sensor. This problem could also be due to the crank sensor wires which are damaged or not wired correctly.
Yes, a crank sensor is one of the major sensors used to control engine timing and cylinder firing.
Perhaps a blown fuel pump. Take a plug wire out and use a spare plug and set it on a piece of metal and crank it and look for the spark. This will eliminate an ignition problem.
it could be the crank sensor as it is a problem for the altimas.

I had the same problem with my legend and I replaced the main relay: Started right up!
