He then through his support to William Taft. However he disapproved of Taft and when Taft ran for re-election, he created the Bull Moose Party to try to defeat Taft. But neither Taft, nor Teddy Roosevelt won. The Democrat, Woodrow Wilson won.

TR formed the Progresssive Bull Moose Party and ran against Taft in 1912, splitting the vote, and allowing the Democrat, Woodrow Wilson, to become President.
