10 to 12 hours on low setting.
Yes, it will be fine, just cover it up.
It depends on the recipe that your making, but just raw vegetables (add water) should cook on high within 2 hours once they get to the boiling point. On low, it would be maybe 3 to 4 hours. Dried beans take about 5 to 6 hours on high, or you can put them on low and cook all night and the next day until they are as done as you like them to be.
A whole chicken should cook in approximately 4 hours on high setting in a "slow cooker," or 6 to 8 hours on low setting. "Crock Pot" is a brand name, and different models and brands will have different settings and require different cooking times.
Food can stay on the warm setting in a crock pot for several hours. That is as long as the crock pot has stayed on the entire time. Some will automatically turn off. It should be fine for as long as eight hours on the warm setting. However, be aware that liquid will evaporate during this time.
Beef cubes cut from different parts of the animal will require different amounts of time to cook. In general, cubes of stew beef with vegetables will be tender after 6-8 hours on the low setting of a slow cooker (Crock Pot.)
If the pork chops are about 1/2" thick, they will take a good 4 hours on the high setting or if you would like to do it all day while you are at work, you can put it on the low setting for about 8 hours. It will vary a little depending on the crock pot itself. A little longer will never hurt, you just dont want to keep them in there for hours too long.
