What is the first magnificationused to look at a slide?

You start with the lowest magnification. Once you have found the specimen and focused it, you can move it to the next higher magnification. It should still be in focus, although you might need to use the fine adjustment.

What is the function of the stage adjustment knob?

the stage adjustment knob is a knob that moves the stage go up anad down . you should use it on a lower power objective lens though

Which step should you take before changing from one magnification to a higher magnification?

adjust the course adjustment

How should you hold a microscope correctly?

In all seriousness - placemicroscope on solid surface like a desk or table. Only move the parts of microscope like specimen stage as little as possible, only adjust the height of the microscope slowly and gently, to avoid damage to specimen being examined.

Is it possible to achieve total internal reflection if the object is in rarer medium?

First we should know what will be happen when the light ray goes from denser medium to rarer medium and rarer medium to denser mdeium.... 1. The light refracted away from the normal (Denser to Rarer) 2. The light refracted towards the normal (Rarer to denser) So it is not possibel to get total internal reflection whan the light travel from rarer to denser medium...... Conditions to achieve to get TIR 1. The light should travel from denser mediumt to rarer medium 2. The angle of incidence at the interface should be greater than critical angle if you are not satisfied kindly mail me cramkum@gmail.com

Which objective should the coarse focus knob be used?

The coarse adjustment knob is only used with the low-power objective lens (usually 4x) because all the other ones are too long and the coarse adjustment knob may bring the slide up too qucikly, therefore it might break the slide or crush the specimen being observed. When using the medium (10x) and high (40x) power objective lens, it is best to use the fine adjustment knob to focus on the details instead.

What part of the microscope should you used to focus the image when using high power objective lens?

First of all, one should never call it high power, it is morecommonly called the "high objective", yet that is not what this question is asking. To answer the question: You use the fine adjustment knob. This knob should be located near the coarse adjustment knob, on the opposite side of the microscope (at the same height as the coarse adjustment knob), or even as a separate knob protruding from the coarse adjustment knob. The fine adjustment knob is smaller in size. You should never, ever use the coarse adjustment knob under the high objective, you could scratch the microscope slide, cover slip, high objective lens, or in a worst case scenario break the high objective lens.

What is coarse wheel adjustment on a microscope?

when should the coarse wheel adjustment be used

When observing a slide should the specimen be on the top or bottom surface of the microscope?

A specimen should be on the top surface of the slide and place a cover-slip over it.

Why must the distance from slide to objective lens increase rather than decrease when coarse focusing with the scannin and low power objectives?

According to my neurons that the distance from slide to objective lens should be increase rather than decrease when coarse focusing with the scanner and LPO to obtain a clearer and more focus structure of a certain specimen.. U must ensure that the coarse adjustment knob is at it's extent and then turn on the fine adjustment knob clockwise for the easier visibility of the specimen =)) - VALERIC ACID ...sPCUTE ..=)

What is the definition of Coarse adjustment?

The coarse adjustment knob elevates the microscope's stage up and down quickly. The fine adjustment knob does the same thing but more slowly and accurately. In other words, the fine adjustment knob should require more revolutions to elevate the stage as much as the coarse adj. knob does.

Should salt evaporate when absorbing moisture?

nope :)

Why shouldn't you use the course adjustment knob when viewing the specimen under high power?

You shouldn't. You can cause the high objective to smash into the surface of the slide and crack it. Always use the fine adj. for high power and if you cannot get the high power in focus, reverse out to low again and do it over. Ideally, if you are in focus on low, you should be in focus at medium (may have to adjust a small amount) and if you are in focus under medium, when you swing the high power obj. into place, it should be in focus as well (may need a fine tune). Always reverse out and start all over again if you cannot focus it under high power. Deja Was Here

How much feces should be collected for a specimen?

As much as necessary.

What does the fine adjustment knob on a microscope do?

The fine adjustment, the two little knobs on both sides of a compound microscope, is rotated to move the body tube down or the stage up in tiny distances to help you focus in HIGH power. The fine focus knob is geared with a different ratio than the coarse knob to "fine tune" your focus. It allows for tiny adjustments to the focus setting, rather than larger ones.
