In about 1967 0r '68 I was an explorer who followed some coworkers to the home of some very nice people who lived in our large urban city .It was a very beautiful place during hat time. I found that my friends knew others who referred to themselves as " "black nationlist". To this day, I still don't know who these people were. I just know they held deep rresentment at that time for the"white man ". Their conversations almost entirely focused on their perceived views on how the black race was so damaged by the white man and how religion ( Christ and Christmas to ) offered the chance for an even stronger hold on the minds of he black man...-even on our children"

Many of these peole were just t living together in these large homes arranged aclose by one another.. some with more than one woman ( I found out) and they were having children like they were all one big family. I felt like they were cultish and never went back there after my initial visit. That visit also presented with a Bold and large black man who smoked dope and who ranted about starting a "Qwanzaa" celebrqtion. It took him a while, but he eventulally got it going in our home town. He barked about and ridiculed Christmas and Jesus Christ-saying that it was the white man's hold on the black man's mind . He denounced Christmas and Jesus Christ. Once, they invited a speaker to come, who was a large black man who talk for a considerable amount of time about the plight of the black man in America and how we had nothing to unite us. He went on about the plight of the black man in America and then introduced the idea of this "Quanzaa" ( SP???) He spoke of creating a holiday around Christmas to take the mind of the blacks off the "White Man's Cristmas and Christ. He wanted our chldren to learn of this celebration and he wanted them be taught about these principles as they embraced a red, black and green flag/banner. Then he went off to a corner and smoked dope with a few of his followers. I was appalued and vowed ot never return. My mother would have killed me had she known.

Well it's taken him since then, and now-low and behold , many of us are celebrating this man-made , non African related holiday that has penetrated many schools where our chlidren can celebrate, but can't utter the name of Jesus. We're forgetting Christ -more and more at Christmas , and Christmas more and more over their Qwanza(sp?).

My best friend from Nigeria,Africa says that there is nothig African about Qwanza, including many of the names they give as " African derived -she said are made up and not even of African origin.Take it for what it's worth, but that's a truth I lived and watched develope. Every principle they speak of is already addressed by Jesus Christ--except, they ignore him.

Each to his own, but I have never, nor will I ever celebrate Qwanzaa. Perhaps if they changed it to June-July, when most of our kids are out of school and need distractions and "Loving " so that will deviate from killing each other, it might have more credence and perhaps even help save a life, but to place the date between Christmas and New Year? What prayerful Christian can't see the full picture here? We should be celebrating the greatest " Gift"..that of the birth of our Savior..Jesus Christ. He is truly the reason for the season celebration. As I recall the experience I had as a young woman, I recall this plot to denouce our Christ. Beware Qwanzaa celebraters. Know whose foot steps you're following in. May God bless and keep you and your familes.
