Yes leave the cover on, you don't want PS fluid on any painted surface.
There is a plastic cover on the left hand side under the hood. It has two holes, one of which is for the windshield water. Remove this cover to find the cover of the power steering reservoir Enjoy
There is a picture that looks similar to a steering wheel on the reservoir cover.
As far as I know there is NO reservoir as the power steering is controled by electrical pump linked into the steering rack. You access it by taking the cowling off under the steering column and dropping the fuse cover to reveal the electrical pump
You will find the power steering reservoir on a 2002 BMW 318i, under the BMW plastic cover over the radiator. It is a black and round, about the size of an orange.
On an Olds Silhouette it is under the cover for the wiper arms on the passenger side of the van
in front of the engine, on the passenger side, you should have the power steering pump. Open the reservoir cover and fill with power steering fluid.
Pehaps air in the system and needs to be purged. Turn wheel lock-lock a few times with engine running and power steering reservoir cover removed Check power steering fluid
underneath the cover, behind radiator, adjacent to the oil filter.
You can access the reservoir after removing the top engine cover. It is on the top front of the engine left side - basically it would be about directly behind the drivers head.
remove the cowling covers around the steering wheel ,,,,,,,,,,,,, its under the top cover :) easy when you know where to look :)
You need to drain or suck the fluid out of the reservoir with a syringe before removing it, or you will have a puddle of power steering fluid under your car. Removing the steering pump reservoir is much easier if you remove the valve cover first. Once you do that, you get a bit more room to get your arms in behind the reservoir. There are 2 x 10mm bolts that attach the reservoir to the engine. It is not easy, nor fun, and an air rachet makes it much easier, but you can get them. Don't drop your tools or the screws back in there! Wildman
