You should never feed your bearded dragon mealworms. Mealworms, even the giant ones, are nearly all shell, and provide very little nutrition for your beardie. Mealworms also have a very high risk of impaction to your beardie. Mealworms are very high in fat and can cause fatty liver in a dragon if used as a dietary staple. Their outer shell made of chitin (sp?) is not digestible which is why they put your dragon at such a high risk of impaction. If your dragon is 16 inches (or body at least 8 inches) you can use superworms which look like giant mealworms but do not have the hard outer shell. They put your dragon at risk of impaction if it isn't big enough to eat the super though. An adult can have supers as a dietary staple.

About 10, but let him pick which ones he wants to eat. Incidentally, if you freeze mealworms they will go into a kind of stasis and "come back to life" soon after being thawed. **EDIT**You should never feed your bearded dragon mealworms. As many as it want to eat - in a ten-minute time period. Make a note of how many you put in for it to eat each time. If there's any left after ten minutes - remove them, and next time only feed same amount as it has eaten.
The older they are, the more they can handle.
My 7 month old bearded dragon only has about 10 dropped in with his salad as a treat every now and then.
The hard shell can be quite hard for them to digest therefore, mealworms should NOT be used in large amounts. Only very little at a time.
you should really feed beardies crickets ,but it depends on the lizard. a baby should eat 9 or 10. A grown up should eat 7-15 and more greens like kale.
Meal worms are bad for bearded dragons the outer shell can cause impaction
there are better feeders with higher protein content, less chitin, and less phosphorus. Mealies aren't the choice of feeders for most dragon keepers.
I feed my 5 month old beardie around 6 or 7 meal worms (superworms) a day with vegtables too. He seems to be content with that.
About 4-6
Do you mean silk worms if so yes you can
Yes bearded dragons can get stomach aches due to: Eating meal worms, meal worms have hard exoskeletons with very little meat and can make your bearded dragon constipated, Over feeding, or interacting with your bearded dragon less than 2 hrs after he/she has eaten, you have to allow your pet to bask for at least 2 hrs which allows them to properly digest their meal (also not to get pooped on ;)
Crickets, meal worms, etc. Basically insects.
Only way to find out - is to take a stool sample to a vet and have it analysed.
yes but we usually feed it lettice and mean worms or crickets
The diet plan of a bearded dragon consists of between 25 and 50 insects per week such as crickets and worms and salad using a variety of greens, vegetables and fruits.
It depends how big your Beardie is - and what size food you're wanting to offer him/her. You should only ever feed insects that are smaller than the distance between the Beardie's eyes.
No. But what i feed my bearded dragons, is super worms, meal worms, and crickets. Sometimes my family picks up a worm from the wild and feed it to them and so far, it never harmed my bearded dragons. So far, they ate grub worms and earth worms.
They are baby crickets and You usually her them in live crickets
Good worms to feed to your bearded dragons are super worms. NEVER never never feed them wax worms, meal worms, or any other kind because these worms have hard exoskeletons, which could get lodged in the lizards throat and choke it. Many people have lost their beardies to this. Super worms are good in nutrition, but keep it as a rare treat for them. Just stick to feeding your beardie crickets and different veggies.
For your bearded dragon to be healthiest you should feed him crickets meal worms and Romain lettuce. when he is a baby he probably wont eat the salad, and he will eat a LOT of crickets. when he gets older he will cut back on crickets and go to salad. I would not recommend giving him meal worms until he is full grown they can cause impaction in babies.
There are three phylums that contain worms. Platyhelminthes are the flat worms, Nematoda are the round worms, and Annelida are the segmented worms. The Bearded Fireworm is a part of the Annelida phylum because its body has segmentation.
