WHAT IS AMNIOCENTESIS? Amniocentesis is a prenatal test that allows the healthcare practitioner to gather information about the baby's health and development from a sample of the mother's amniotic fluid. This is the fluid that surrounds the baby in the uterus.
I think this question has been asked and answered before. No there is no way of telling the sex of your baby except by an ultrasound scan (Not always possible and/or accurate) or by chorionic villus sampling around 12 weeks or amniocentesis later in pregnancy. Both of these are expensive tests only used to check the health of a baby not the sex (unless there is a sex-linked inherited disease). No.
Amniocentesis is a medical test of the fluid around the embryo. The doctor performed amniocentesis to make certain the baby would be normal.
Amniocentesis.
There are many tests and procedures that can tell a lot about a baby before it's born, such as it's sex and certain medical problems it may have. Ultra sound, which gives a picture of the unborn baby, can tell the baby's sex, how well it's developing, when it's due, etc. Another procedure that can help doctors determine certain medical conditions is amniocentesis. This is a procedure where the doctor draws amniotic fluid (the fluid that surrounds the fetus) from the abdominal area. The fluid is then tested for various things, which is how they can tell so much about the baby.
It is not possible to determine the sex by ultrasound until about 19 weeks along. If you do an amniocentesis, you can normally find out around 12 weeks.
no
A woman can have an ultrasound to determine the baby's sex as early as 15 weeks. However, an ultrasound is not 100% accurate - the only way to be 100% accurate is to have an amniocentesis, which is a risky procedure that a doctor won't perform just to determine the baby's sex.
No the pregnancy test lone will not tell you the sex of the baby.
