Derogatory information (30,60,90 days late) stays on your credit report for 7 years. Public records (bankruptcy, judgements, liens etc.) can stay on your report for up to 10 years. * SOMETIMES there's a way to get the bad stuff off. The trick is you have to pay the balance in full (not settled - settling wrecks the credit reports of consumers). 60 days after you've paid the balance in full, you can request validation of the debt. Many banks have a growing problem with server capacity, so they often move the accounts with paid balances into their archives leaving the accounts with residual balances on the system. When you request validation of the "balance paid in full"account, there is an even chance that the bank may not be able tovalidate itbecause of archiving following the balance being satisfied. The FairCredit Reporting Act states that if the subscriber (the bank) does not provide validation of the debt within 30 days of a consumer's request for such validation, the item must be removed - permanently. Make sure you do your homework on this (i.e the debt is paid in full - not settled). If you are not sure, write your financial institution and ask for a corrected copy of your statement. That separates the wheat from the chaff.

This hapenned to me in the past. I was registered with experian, I had no defaults on my credit report, however a loan company told me that I had a default on my credit report I then told them that I had checked my experian credit report and it was clean but they told me it was equifax where the bad report was logged on. I checked it and it was for a credit card I had never even heard of. Equifax investigated it and found out in a couple of days that I had nothing to do with it. This was in 2007 about when it was removed. its now 2011 I also found out recently that you can actually sue companies that put false information on your credit report.

You can have a credit dispute, if the agency reporting the bad judgment does not get back with the company disputing the judgment within 30 days, it HAS to be removed from your credit report. Example: I filed bankruptcy(?) on a auto repo. and the company did not take it off my credit report, I had my credit card company do a credit dispute, they did not respond within 30 days, and it was removed from my credit report.

Yes I believe you can report credit card fraud if you know someone who has someone elses credit card, if let's say one of your friends or family member got there credit card stolen and you also know the person who stole the credit card you can report a credit card fraud or you can just let your friend or family member report fraud on there credit card, I hope this helps :).
Personal checking accounts will not show up on your credit report. If you have a Chase credit card, you will see some information about the card like reported balance, status, and maybe the current APR on your report, but you won't see any information about to the checking account you use to pay the bill...
