Ash Wednesday--the start to Lent
Fasting isn't a viable way of losing weight. Whatever you lose you are more than likely to put back on once you start eating again.
Please trust me, there are NO good fasting programs! There are two reasons for that: 1) fasting is bad for your health; and 2) it is an unsuccessful route to weight loss, because you will put the weight on very rapidly again as soon as you start eating normally again and (as many studies have shown) fasters tend to put on even more than they have lost.
Yes, because once you start eating again you'll gain it all back unless you excercise. Plus, you might loose some extra lbs if you excercise while fasting.
It starts again on Wednesday 13th April, Channel 4 at 10pm
If you decide to fast just to lose weight it is very important to read up on how to prepare for the fast and how to prepare to start eating again. It is easy to lose weight fasting, but you have to be very careful when you begin eating again, or you could gain more weight then you had to begin with. What is usually recommended is very slowly introducing foods back into your diet after fasting... and you usually want to start with very easy to digest foods, like fruit. Then add small amounts of veggies, then tiny amounts of rice or wheat, then protein and so on. Depending on how long your fast is, it should take about half the time of the fast to be eating regularly again... Fasting is also a very easy way to change your diet. If you are unhappy with how you're eating, water or juice fasting is an easy way to start over with what you put in your mouth. Which also helps with lifestyle change to maintain your new weight. Long story short, please research and read a lot about fasting before you start doing it. "Googling" water fast or juice fast is a very easy way to find information and books about fasting. PS. Other things will definitely improve during a fast. Your digestive system will be very efficient after fasting, and most toxins in your body will be released. You should also notice your mind clearing and small ailments clearing up.
